First Attempt at Water Colors.

I apologize Catharine, for adding at least twenty years onto your appearance. I didn't have a black.

Two Page Spread

Below is the image of where I got my inspiration for my two page spread. I enjoyed this layout because the text was the most important part of the spread. It is almost as if the text is drawing a picture itself. I also took Suzanne's advice about not having to show an entire view of something, but focusing on a particular part and zooming in.
Above image from Organic Style Magazine, March 2004. It's an oldie, I know.

Five Items From Five Members

For this assignment we were asked to draw five items that have importance to us. I chose five objects that were given to me through the five members of my family. In designing the two page spread we were asked to keep in mind the layout, color, text, and hierarchy. As far as the layout went, I tried to cover as much of the two pages as possible. I chose to represent my favorite object (in case you can't tell it's my red car Beatrice) by it being the only object where I used color. I additionally tried to keep the text minimal and focus more on the objects that have importance to me. I enjoyed being able to break out of the typical white and black drawings and add a little color!
